The final Championship game had it all, the strong start by the Vikings, even at half time, even at three quarter time, even at full time, including a brain melted down by Brett Favre when it counted in the final minutes.

And then the Saints, who won the extra time toss, brought up the field goal to march into the SuperBowl.

Fantastic game that had it all.

Leading 17-13 at half time in the Championship game, the Jets blew it and went down screaming as the Colts put on 17 unanswered points.

What more can you say when the scoreboard says it all. No excuses, just not good enough when it counted.

In one of the shock result of the season, the New York Jets have defeated the San Diego chargers, 17 -14.

Trailling 3-7 going into the final quarter, the Jets ran in two touchdowns to choke the Chargers out of a spot in newt weeks championship game.

NFL Playoffs Minnesota crush Dallas

Brett Favre led the Minnesota Vikings all the way in a comprehensive win over Dallas to win the Vikings way into next weeks NFC title game.

Dallas were hopelessly outclassed, their only score a field goal in the 2nd quarter.

The vikings now will meet New Orleans next week in what shapes as a fantastic duel between two inform Quarterbacks.

NFL playoffs Indianapolis defeat Baltimore

The Indianapolis Colts have moved forward into the Championship game after defeating the Baltimore Ravens. In a low scoring affair, the Colts stamped their authority on the game with two touchdowns in the second quarter and then held the Ravens scoreless for the last three quarters of the game.

Last week most of the playoff games were one sided. The only close game involved a record scoring epic, and the Arizona Cardinals.

This week the Cardinals started well, with a touchdown in the first minute and then their defence showed why they had conceded a record score the week before. The Saints ran rampant, chalking up effortless touchdowns as they swept the battered and depleted Arizona defence aside.

The records again tumbled, worst defensive effort in the playoffs amongst them, and the New Orleans Saints progressed comfortably through to the championship round next week.

Arizona Cardinals win thriller against Green Bay

After three one sided contests, the wildcard weekend exploded into a record breaking epic.

The Cardinals flew out of the blocks and grabbed a 17-0 lead at quarter time.

The Packers then slowly clawed their way back into the game, with both sides defensively poor and the points scoring ticking over at a furious rate.

In the final quarter, the Green Bay Packers added 21 unanswered points to draw level, but with seconds to go the Arizona Cardinals gave their kicker the chance to seal the match – but Rackers missed sending the game into overtime.

Green Bay won the toss and had first use of the ball, but the Cardinals defence were able to trap the visitors in their own half and then on the third down, Green Bay quarter back Rodgers was stripped of the ball as he was sacked, and in the highest scoring playoff game in history, it was the Cardinals defense that walked the ball into the end zone for the game winning touchdown.

What a match!

Baltimore Ravens thrash New England

The one sided match ups continued in the wildcard weekend with the Baltimore Ravens walking away with the game from the New England Patriots.

With Brady turning the ball over in three of his first four possessions, Ray Rice blazing away for an 83 yard touchdown, and the Patriots generally looking at sea, the Ravens had the game sewn up at quarter time when they led 24-0.

The Ravens once again showed the toughness they have developed in recent years in the play offs and move forward to the second weekend.

Dallas thrash Eagles – NFL playoffs

The Philadelphia Eagles left Dallas completely plucked after going down in flames against the Cowboys in the crucial NFC wildcard clash.

The Eagles never got going and trailled 34-7 midway during the third quarter.

The Cowboys finished with 27 first downs, compared to just 17 for Philadelphia, and in the first half that difference was even more stark as the Cowboys had 21 to the Eagles’ five.

NY Jets overrun the Bengals – NFL playoffs

Jets knock off Bengals

After a shabby first quarter, the New York Jets stepped up a gear to overrun a sloppy Cincinatti Bengals and win the AFC wildcard clash, 24 – 14.
The Bengals looked strong in the opening bracket with the Jets using placekicker Feeley as their punter due to injury and looking rattled.
But the Jets unleashed Shonn Greene on the opposition’s defense and the rookie set fire with 135 yards and a 39-yard touchdown on a career-high 21 carries.
