The Colts looked comfortable in the first quarter moving out to a 10 -0 lead. The Saints clawed it back with two field goals and then took the lead after a clever onside kick to start the second half. it was short lived, as the Colts brought up a quick reply.

The final quarter saw the Colts squander some early opportunities and Stover missed a 51 yard field goal attempt. With 7 minutes to go, Brees drove the Saints to within a few yards of the goal line and Shockey brought up the touchdown for the lead. With three minutes to go a pass from Manning was intercepted by  Porter who ran off down the field for a touchdown and it was game over.

There had been a lot of pregame speculation that Manning is one of the great quarterbacks of all time. In this game he showed nothing.

Trailling 3-7 going into the final quarter, the Jets ran in two touchdowns to choke the Chargers out of a spot in newt weeks championship game.

Dallas were hopelessly outclassed, their only score a field goal in the 2nd quarter.

The vikings now will meet New Orleans next week in what shapes as a fantastic duel between two inform Quarterbacks.

This week the Cardinals started well, with a touchdown in the first minute and then their defence showed why they had conceded a record score the week before. The Saints ran rampant, chalking up effortless touchdowns as they swept the battered and depleted Arizona defence aside.

The records again tumbled, worst defensive effort in the playoffs amongst them, and the New Orleans Saints progressed comfortably through to the championship round next week.

The Cardinals flew out of the blocks and grabbed a 17-0 lead at quarter time.

The Packers then slowly clawed their way back into the game, with both sides defensively poor and the points scoring ticking over at a furious rate.

In the final quarter, the Green Bay Packers added 21 unanswered points to draw level, but with seconds to go the Arizona Cardinals gave their kicker the chance to seal the match – but Rackers missed sending the game into overtime.

Green Bay won the toss and had first use of the ball, but the Cardinals defence were able to trap the visitors in their own half and then on the third down, Green Bay quarter back Rodgers was stripped of the ball as he was sacked, and in the highest scoring playoff game in history, it was the Cardinals defense that walked the ball into the end zone for the game winning touchdown.

What a match!

With Brady turning the ball over in three of his first four possessions, Ray Rice blazing away for an 83 yard touchdown, and the Patriots generally looking at sea, the Ravens had the game sewn up at quarter time when they led 24-0.

The Ravens once again showed the toughness they have developed in recent years in the play offs and move forward to the second weekend.
