The Philadelphia Eagles left Dallas completely plucked after going down in flames against the Cowboys in the crucial NFC wildcard clash.
The Eagles never got going and trailled 34-7 midway during the third quarter.
The Cowboys finished with 27 first downs, compared to just 17 for Philadelphia, and in the first half that difference was even more stark as the Cowboys had 21 to the Eagles’ five.

Jets knock off Bengals
After a shabby first quarter, the New York Jets stepped up a gear to overrun a sloppy Cincinatti Bengals and win the AFC wildcard clash, 24 – 14.
The Bengals looked strong in the opening bracket with the Jets using placekicker Feeley as their punter due to injury and looking rattled.
But the Jets unleashed Shonn Greene on the opposition’s defense and the rookie set fire with 135 yards and a 39-yard touchdown on a career-high 21 carries.
Final scores – NY Jets 24 defeated Cincinatti Bengals 14

With a week to go, the playoff picture is clear in the NFC, but places in the AFC are still up for grabs.
In the NFC, we have the divisional leaders decided in New Orleans, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Arizona with Green Bay and Dallas picking up the wildcards.
But in the AFC, whilst the divisional leaders are set in concrete (Indianapolis, San Diego, New England and Cincinatti) we have seven teams fighting for the two wildcards positions in the final round.
Baltimore, Houston, Pittsburgh, Miami, Jacksonville, Denver and the New York Jets all have a chance to move into the playoffs.

The 2009 NFL season has started with a bang and after the opening couple of rounds we have some high flying teams like the New Orleans Saints, who are charging along with an offence that is averaging over 46 pts per game and at the other end of the scale we have the St Louis Rams with a paltry average of only 3.5 pts per game.
And we saw the opening game at the new Dallas Cowboys stadium with an all time record crowd of over 105,000 fans! What a game it was with the lead see sawing often and the NY Giants snatching the game in the last second.
We look like we are in for a fantastic season.
